Saw the Avengers at El Capitan yesterday—yes, that is where the premiere was held (suckers). It was un-freaking-believable. Seriously, 2012 is an epic year for movies. First the Hunger Games, now the Avengers. Then it’s time for Dark Knight Rises & the Amazing Spider-man. It’s Nerdvana. Speaking of Nerdvana, the photos are from Stan Lee’s collectibles collection that were featured at the bottom of the theatre. The photos I’m showing is merely a small portion of what was displayed. There was so much stuff; I was in heaven.
Seriously this is the cutest picture ever. I love kids with Toms shoes. It’s like adorableness multiplied. On top of the epic tiny Toms, this is also the foot of the greatest little girl ever. I love taking pictures of her. I won’t show them here but there are some on my official site. This was taken yesterday—which was a crazy busy day. Church in the morning, lunch with amazing friends that turned into brainstorming for a business venture, and photographing a graduation dinner in Los Angeles. Craziness! Tomorrow is the first day of May. Hectic schedule, here we go!
Did a senior portrait shoot with Ashlee today. As always, it was full of laughter and happiness. It made me realise how much I’ve gone from timid photographer to obnoxious director. Well, maybe not ‘obnoxious’ but certainly more demanding. I used to be really scared of telling my subject what to do and how to pose. It was more like, “Do whatever you want and I’ll just snap away candidly.” But now, it’s easier to take control and to actually direct the people I photograph. After our shoot, we went to dinner at Yard House—which was delicious! At the end of the night, we had an impromptu photo shoot because one of my friends, Bryan, started a new job where he had to dress nicely. It turned into a mixture of Hollister modeling and really disturbing imagery. I don’t think I want those pictures on my blog. All in all, a good day.
It’s been an eventful week. Lots of work and school. Not too shabby. Had church this morning, but it was more like half-church/half-serving-the-city kind of thing. It was a service day to explain it briefly. Afterwards a group of us went to the beach. It was really sunny in our area but by the time we got to the beach, it was cloudy and windy. That is California weather for you. Played a ton of beach volleyball—my muscles are crazy sore right now. Work will be fun tomorrow with my achy old muscles and bones. I have more shots of the ocean but I think this one was one of my favourites.
Wow, it’s been a long time since I did a blog entry. A lot of things have happened. I don’t remember half the things I’ve done since the last time I blogged, so I will just talk about this past weekend. One of my best friends from high school turned 21 today, but we celebrated her birthday yesterday. I was the photographer. After, I went to see Titanic 3D—certain parts still piss me off to no end [they are both able to fit on the damn door]. Another one of my friends is turning 26 tomorrow, but we celebrated her birthday today. That said person is the one in the photo above. As I went through the footage, I realised that there was not a single picture where she wasn’t gorgeous. I envy photogenic people.
Saw the Hunger Games twice in this past weekend. $22 out of $155,000,000 was my contribution. It definitely reached my expectations. There were little minor details that they left out which saddened me, but overall, I was extremely happy after the movie. In fact, I think I enjoyed it the second time more than the first. I guess I had accepted what they changed. Only now, I have convinced many of my friends to read the books so that they get the full story. I hate Josh Hutcherson’s fangirls, but I have to say he did a fantastic job portraying Peeta. Jennifer Lawrence, as always, was perfection. Anyway, the above photo is the Muppets Blu-ray! We are going to have a Muppets party, and I’m so excited for it. Life is good.
Ever since I got the Hunger Games nail polishes, I have been painting my nails fervently and frequently. China Glaze actually created this look and put it on their Twitter. It’s the perfect imitation of Katniss’ nails. I will be keeping this look until the midnight showing on Thursday/Friday! I’m insanely excited for this movie and this franchise. I honestly hope it meets my expectations. I have this love-hate relationships with films adapted from books. I loved the Lord of the Rings, but I despised Harry Potter (even though I am a huge Potterhead). Ah well… 3 more days!
The past few days have been filled with me showing off my Hunger Games shoes to almost everyone—I’m way too proud of them. I’ve gotten a few requests to do them for money. I’m considering it. I saw some custom Hunger Games Toms on Etsy that aren’t anything special but still cost like $80. I’m scared that if I start doing it, I’ll get sick of it quickly, which is why I’m hesitating. The photo above is from church this morning, which was fantastic as always. Didn’t do much for St. Patrick’s Day, other than burn my tongue on hot soup.
My friend, Bianca, and I made our Hunger Games shoes today. Can I just say they are epic? We will be wearing them to the midnight showing. On the left shoe, I drew the Mockingjay on fire along with a silhouette cityscape of the Capitol (also on fire); on the inner part, I put Cinna’s quote, “I’m still betting on you.” On the right shoe, the prominent part is “May the odds ever be in your favor.” The outer has a District 2 symbol—since that is my district. On the inside is a couplet from Rue’s Lullaby. Yes, I made them contrasting colour schemes on purpose.
Insanity. I have officially gone insane. Nothing tragic; simply over nail polish, mind you. Oh, and the Hunger Games. Did I happen to mention that I am insane over the Hunger Games? No? Well, now you know it. As if my last blog post didn’t highlight the fact that I am a crazy fan, attempting to meet the cast. I hope this photo shows you the depth of my obsession. I bought all twelve nail polishes that China Glaze put out for this franchise. I even bought the colour I hated the most—“Mahogany Magic,” District 7’s ugly as sin brown. Unfortunately over the next week or two, my blog will be littered with Hunger Games related topics: Creating custom Hunger Games Toms, going to the midnight showing, etc. etc. You know the drill. While we are on topic, I finished Catching Fire and I wish Finnick Odair was real. I guess I will just have to settle for whoever is going to play him in the next movie.
